Child Excise Tax - A tax imposed on "Non Custodial Parents" (NCP's) for the production of children which have been removed from their parental control without cause.  AKA by the politically correct term "Child Support" which is used to mislead unknowing people into thinking that the funds are needed, and are used for, the care and support of children (see "Ten Myth's of Child Support") and to further mislead people into believing that the NCP's did not provide this financial support directly and without government interference.

The Coalition of Fathers and Families NY, Inc. has done the simple math needed to reveal the real expense to NCP's of this Child Excise Tax.  Using two children and moderate income for two working parents we see that the "Custodial Parent" receives a windfall post separation/divorce/out-of-wedlock due to tax consideration and the non computation of the NCP's expenses to raise children, (see "A Comparison of Disposable Income").  The "25%" Child Excise Tax assessment for two children, due to tax considerations, is actually 48% of the NCP's gross income.  It is easy to see that if there is any lowering of income on the part of the NCP that they will end up in poverty, arrears on payments and have to suffer the consequences, including jail.   Our computations show that as a "Non Custodial Parent" pays ALL of the income taxes and additionally suffers because they are NOT allowed to claim a child deduction or to file as "head of household" they have an increased tax burden in addition to providing for their children directly during their parenting time.  Add to this the Child Excise Tax and the average middle income working Non Custodial Parent has to work from January 1 until August 15 of each and every year before they see a penny of their hard earned money!  8 1/2 months for the Government and 3 1/2 months for you!

August 15 is therefore declared to be Child Excise Tax Free Day!  In honor of this FaFNY would like to promote a little "child excise tax" protest.  All you have to do, on August 15 is to take one of your child excise tax payment coupons and put it in an envelope with a check for one dollar.  Feel free to add a letter telling them how they are contributing to the destruction of families (see examples on "How To Protest")and include the "Federal Incentives Exist to Make Children Fatherless" by Phyllis Schlafly and the "Child Support Success Story" all to common in this broken system.  Of course if you are in arrears skip the send them a dollar part and if you are a few bucks ahead feel free to send them 3 or 4 envelopes full of "success stories" and one dollar payments.  Then on August 31 you write or call your local CS Department and ask them for an audit of your payments.  Once the audit is done ask them to send you the one dollar back and have them cut a check and send it to you.  Let us give this big, bungling, bureaucracy a little bit of their own medicine.
