FaFNY County Coordinators can be reached by e-mail at HELPme@fafny.org.  They are appointed from the membership to provide education and advocacy for fathers and families within the county in which they are appointed.  The functions of the county coordinator will vary but some of the services they provide are distribution of FaFNY information, court watch and liaison, member support and policy input to the FaFNY Board.  If you are interested in helping out others at the local level please contact FaFNY and ask how you can be a part of the solution.

Letter from Mr. Randall L. Dickinson, Vice President and Legislative Committee Chairman, to County Coordinators (and prospective ones);

Dear Activist:

Over the past several years it has become apparent that little or no need exists for an organization with a large membership in order to achieve the progress we seek in terms of Family and/or Domestic Relations Law reform (that’s certainly not to say that such an organization would not be a benefit overall).  A statewide network consisting of a small corps of committed and dedicated activists (with emphasis on “active”), however, is just as likely – perhaps even more likely – to get us to where we are all striving to be.  The Coalition of Fathers and Families New York, Inc., is attempting to establish just such a network by recruiting County Coordinators in each county throughout the State of New York.  This structure has been chosen to parallel the legislative districts throughout the State.

Your principal responsibilities, however, should not necessarily be seen as requiring the establishment of a “member” based organization (although we are certainly not discouraging that, as well).  What we envision is a small nucleus of two or three or so individuals in each county, who are willing to begin bringing pressure to bear where it needs to be brought to bear the most … at the political/legislative level.  Your responsibilities will include the following:

  Establish an open line of communication with the State Legislative Representatives in the county/district for which you are coordinator, including:

-         regular face to face meetings in their district offices

-         periodic telephone and/or e-mail contacts

-         providing written materials, such as recent studies, articles, statistical data, etc.

-         personally and physically participating in and assisting with the political campaigns of those who support our agenda

-         attending political functions such as fund raiser gatherings

-         participating in media events, forums and/or debates organized, for example, by the League of Women Voters, etc.

-         Be Creative, but be professional and diplomatic

We welcome you together for change for our children.

Sincerely, Randall L. Dickinson.
