There are 3 main areas of federal involvement in the destruction of the American Family:

1.  Title IV-D (Welfare)    2.  The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).    3.  Lack of Parental Rights for "Non Custodial" Parents (NCP's).

We here at FaFNY are promoting action items in these three areas.

Income Disparities Between Men and Women:

FaFNY calls on New York's Representatives at the National level to request of the Government Accounting Office to investigate how sole custody policies and federal monetary incentives promoting sole custody are impacting men's and women's ability to make free choices regarding career and family.  The GAO report GAO-04-35 states that women earn 80% of what men do due to family responsibilities.  FaFNY believes that women are forced into the care giving role and men into the financial provider role by New York's sole custody policies and practices.  You can find the GAO report at www.gao.gov/ and type in "GAO-04-35" into search for a downloadable adobe acrobat copy.  You can download the letter to the NY Federal Representatives in MS Word and also the Discussion of GAO-04-35 which is our response to the report.
