1.         Call your legislator in their home district right now.  Make an appointment to meet with them.

3.         Write your legislators in Albany and let them know your views and ask them to attend the press conference at 11:00AM and meet with a Family organization representative to discuss the issues with them during the LEAD on May 9, 2006 and review the displays

4.         An E-mail is good better than nothing, a fax is better and a hand written letter sent through the mail is the best. Then call.  Then MEET WITH THEM!

A guide to writing your legislator.

 1.         Use your own words.  State why it is important to you.  Use the template letter on page 12 or feel free to hand write a short letter on your own.

 2.         Be sure to state that you are their constituent (and also groups you are a member of).

 3.         Request a response to your letter and don't forget to ask for a reply and end with a thank you.

 4.         Make sure that you spell the legislator's name correctly.

 5.         Make sure to include your return address.

If you can only write one or two letters send them to your own Senator and Assemblyperson.  To be more effective you should write the leadership also, Senator Bruno, Assemblyman Silver and don't forget Governor Pataki.  You should also write to Chairperson of the committee the bill is in and if possible, all committee members.
